Excuse me a moment while I wipe the tears from my eyes... *runs to get Kleenex*... So, as you might have guessed, this is a hard one to get through. Kristoff doesn't shy away from a body count, and I was basically weeping through the last 30 pages or so. But that just goes to show how invested I became in these characters, this world, and the trials that led to this epic showdown. And it was EPIC. There was barely any time to breathe from one page to the next, every ounce of action thrilling and heart-pounding and cinematic. There were crushing betrayals and unlikely alliances, tender romance and heart-wrenching sacrifices. And it was so, completely, totally worth it. I couldn't stop reading for the life of me and am even now struggling to process everything that happened and how I'm going to get through my day emotionally wrecked. But I LOVED this book. This entire series has been amazing, but this takes the cake and is exactly the kind of ending I wanted. I cannot recommend the LOTUS WAR books enough to lovers of fantasy, action, adventure, and everlasting friendships and sacrifices. Everyone and their dog needs these books in their lives. It might have brought me to tears, but it was worth it.

NAJLEPSZA CZĘŚĆ!
Przeczytałam ją w jeden dzień.
Sześćset stron.
W jeden dzień.
To o czymś świadczy, ok?

More comprehensive review to come when I write up my reviews for the previous installments, but all in all a gorgeous end to an incredible fantasy series. Tears still in my eyes, and best of all not all of them are from sadness.

'But your dreams have no power over me, old man. Mine is the world I build... My triumphs, my mistakes, my loves, my losses. I choose what I am. Every day. I rise, and I stand. And the world you describe is one where I only kneel.'

This is not a happy book. This guy has mercy on no one. Some people who really, really deserved better met their ends and it was a consecutive chain of events and I was considering chucking my book. Pretty satisfied with how it concluded though I felt like it lost a bit of steam towards the end, there're two big scenes with a small lull separating. That's where the pace threw me a bit off.

There's this quote towards the end that just makes you stop and think :

'The truth is, the abyss lives in us. In our greed. In the way we look at things different to us, and see things lesser. In the way we see the smaller, or the weaker,, and think them prey.
It begins with the beasts of the land, the birds of the sky. And in a blinking, we find ourselves seeing our lessers in people with different colored skins. Different gods. Different creeds We see them as lessers, and we hurt, and we killd, and we think nothing of it. Because they are different, we think ourselves just. Because we are stronger, we think ourselves righteous. That is the abyss in all of us...'
