This was so good, I love Kate dicamillos writing style and I missed reading her books a lot so this was fun. Also this was the perfect book to pull me out of my reading slump :)

It took a while to settle in, but in the end, I enjoyed it.

A very touching story. It makes you think about how resilient children are.

Sweet, sad story. As an adult reader, I wanted more... more background, more explanation, more logistics, but that all is probably unnecessary for the child reader.

While this was on my To Read list (because Kate DiCamillo), it didn't rank particularly high as I wasn't overly keen on Raymie Nightingale. One of my classes chose it as a readaloud, though, and I'm particularly glad they did. It was absolutely excellent. I'd argue that it starts to drag a bit after the major twist, but it begins and ends so well that it hardly matters.
