The book goes by absurdly fast, but somehow very little happens in that time plot or character wise. The world building is painted in broad strokes and not well supported or fleshed out.

The characters don’t have much development either and feel flat and one dimensional, making it hard to get attached to any of them or understand their relationships with one another or their motivations beyond basics.

I think it is important to note that some of the spicy scenes contain elements and language that can be uncomfortable or triggering for some and blur the sense of consent and/or feel aggressive. Some may feel totally fine during these scenes and others may find them prickly to encounter so it is good to keep in mind going in.

I came for the beautiful cover, but İ'm not happy with what I found inside this book. It started pretty great, then it literally went dull til the end. The story really needed more than that. It lacked of plot and just bored me.

I devoured this book! I enjoyed her Stars and Shadows series and saw people raving about this book and was interested. I am so glad I read it!

I really like Nyra’s character and how tough she is after what she’s gone through. I like how she doesn’t’ take anyone’s sh**. I am excited to see how she grows from here.
I didn’t think I was going to like Dacre at first, but I did. The way he is protective and possessive is yummy. I am so excited to see what happens with them both next.

That cliffhanger though! I need more, like now please!

Definitely would recommend to fans of Holly Renee’s previous work and/or fans of fantasy!

This book took me a few chapters to get into but I got hooked about 25% in and I finished this in 24 hours.

The reasons why it's not a 5-star for me are mostly around the romance. There are a few, less than ideal phrasings for me and some dubious consent. But I like dark romance.

However, I loved the worldbuilding and really want to know more about the magic.

A really enjoyable read if you are looking for a spicy book with som fantasy elements. This is a romance book with a little bit of fantasy, so just keep that in mind. Easy to get in to and the world is simple enough for anyone to understand. The fantasy element is that they have magic, but it’s not super heavy or used that much in the book. It has good tension and gets heavy on the romance/spice towards the end of the book. Would definitely recommend! Ends on such a cliffhanger - can’t wait for the next book!
