The Veiled Kingdom by Holly Renee

fast-paced
  • Strong character development? No

2.0

The book goes by absurdly fast, but somehow very little happens in that time plot or character wise. The world building is painted in broad strokes and not well supported or fleshed out.

The characters don’t have much development either and feel flat and one dimensional, making it hard to get attached to any of them or understand their relationships with one another or their motivations beyond basics.

I think it is important to note that some of the spicy scenes contain elements and language that can be uncomfortable or triggering for some and blur the sense of consent and/or feel aggressive. Some may feel totally fine during these scenes and others may find them prickly to encounter so it is good to keep in mind going in.
