A light-hearted look at how to make a podcast. I came away not quite sure if the aim was for this book to be an informative guide or a comedy book for fans of their podcast. The bulk of the advice is common sense but there are a few bits and pieces that were useful.

Listened to the audio book which is basically a ginormous, wonderful podcast. I intend on buying the Kindle version for additional reference.

Would have liked a bit more autobiography, but I respect the direct intent.

The audience for this book is, I think, VERY limited.

If you are starting or thinking of starting a podcast AND you love the McElroys? This book is going to be great for you.
If you're new to podcasting and neutral on/dislike/only a little bit like the McElroys? You're probably better off skimming some podcasting guides on the internet.
I am a person who loves the McElroys and have been podcasting for over a decade, off-and-on. For me? This book was very middling. I laughed a few times. I learned a couple of things. But that was about it.
The book is well written and there are definitely some insights in here that you wouldn't get anywhere else. I found the chapter on equipment especially accessible, yet comprehensive. But there are better McElroy jokes. There are better podcasting guides. And overall, the book is just *alright*

Though, I'll reiterate, in case it's been lost in the various couching above, if you love the McElroys and are NEW to podcasting, this book would be an excellent place to start.

I found a ton of bits and pieces in here that were incredibly useful for our podcast as we complete 30 episodes!

I'm a fan of several of the McElroy Brothers' podcasts yet have no real interest in creating a podcast and only a passing interest in audio production at all. So my read on this was to get more of their delightfully warped sense of humor, abstract thinking, etc. ... This book delivers that, it's a quick read, and I was able to give the boys a vote of confidence with a check-out from my local library.

Thanks, Goodreads, for the giveaway copy I received! I’m a big fan of the McElroys in all their endeavors so I was delighted to get a chance to read this ahead of its release date.

The book has a lot of actionable advice for someone interested in starting a podcast and certainly some lessons that were learned through trial and error in their 10 years of weekly episodes. It’s written in a way that’s reminiscent of their own podcast with each chapter being steered by a brother and the other two popping in to add on or make a joke.

It is definitely geared toward comedy podcasting as that’s their main deal, but there’s a chapter on research as well (written by surprise guest Sydnee McElroy with commentary from Rachel and Teresa).

I’d recommend this to someone looking to start a podcast and especially someone who is already acquainted with the McElroys.
