Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol. 20 by Koyoharu Gotouge

Good, but a bit boring. We are just focussing on one demon now and while the fight was interesting it just seemed too hopeless and I am getting tired of seeing characters just die, like come on, we still have several volumes, will we keep some characters left? I get that people die, but this just seems overkill in my eyes. Plus, the backstory this time? It was good, but I also couldn't care that much, it didn't touch my heart as much as the other demons stories.
Oh well, a few more volumes, I can do this.

Kokushibo is probably my favorite from the upper ranks. I really liked his backstory.

I really enjoyed the fights in this volume, mostly because Tokito, Sanemi, Genya, and Himejima make for an odd combination considering their fighting styles. Still, it was beautiful to watch and I LOVED seeing the resolve Tokito and Genya had for standing their ground and fighting to the bitter end. Genya's character hasn't had a lot of time to develop, but I feel like he really shines in this fight.

That being said, the main issue I had with this volume was it revolved around Kokushibo's past and frankly I don't give a fuck about him. Yes, I understand why his past is important to the series, both with his relation to Yoriichi and the overall message of family, but I had no personal attachment to his story or character. I want to make it clear that I don't think he's a poorly written character or even a "bad" character, but I was never invested in his character from the start and having this entire volume revolve around him dampened my enjoyment.

I don't want to say anything lest I get into spoiler territory, so I'll leave it at that. I still liked this volume despite my gripes, but mostly for the awesome action.
