I thought this book would be hard to get into because it was written in the 60's, but that wasn't the case at all. I'm a fan of Blade Runner (director's cut, natch, without the terrible voiceovers), and I it was really interesting to read the inspiriation.

A pretty good book. Be prepared to jump right in with the terminology and culture of the novel. The author does not give lengthy explanations of the world, but everything will make more sense as you go. It provides some valid points and for the most part was an enjoyable read.
i love the blade runner movies and i thought i would like this book as well…… but it was just okay. the whole post apocalyptic setting, androids and electric animals thing sounds cool, and i think there was a good message to be sent but don’t i think philip k. dick did a great job of translating it well
This review won't amount to much, as I'm still processing this book. Suffice it to say that I really enjoyed it, and I understand its place in the larger sci-fi pantheon. As a newcomer to sci-fi, I read this one mostly out of a compulsion to understand the origins of the genre and the early works that shaped it. It's a solid narrative with lots of big ideas cramped into very little real estate. I guess the only thing I really missed was outright sci-fi action, gadgets, etc. Everything is very vague in its description, and some concepts beg for more exploration. Still, a fun and fascinating read.
