Perfect book to read with my 6 year old! He loves Rocket and Groot so this was a great adventure.

Trigger Warming from my childhood: Take all you want, but eat all you take.

(Backstory - I was a rule-follower. In fifth grade I was on a field trip and went to an all-you-can-eat buffet where they asked you to take what you want but eat all you take. And the mashed potatoes were gross. I tried to force myself to eat them - being the rule-follower I was - but I was gagging the whole time. Finally I gave myself permission not to eat them. It still haunts me. That was in 1982.)

Kinda silly. Kinda fun. I guess it‰ЫЄs not much sillier than Rocket's actual origin story.

I loved Guardians of the Galaxy and the idea of a middle grade chapter book based on these characters by someone like Tom Angleberger (who gets the whole fandom/nerd mentality perfectly) is awesome. The execution is a little...sloppier than the Origami Yoda books, which is partially by design, and the overall plot is crazy enough to appeal to the age group even if it seems absurd to my adult eyes.

Still, keeping in mind the overall context (and truly hilarious end swerve), this is a solid read for those kids too young for traditional comics but too old for basic stuff. It's really almost sure to be a deserving hit.

Amusing transitional chapter book that will appeal to fans of superheroes and titles like Captain Underpants.

While annoying to have to read aloud (“I am Groot”), the story is wildly entertaining to young kids and certainly appeals to butt humor. The kids will enjoy this tale about a planet with terror-inducing toilets.

This was a big hit with my son. The format and the humor was just right for him. The simple illustrations were a nice touch and the running dialogue actually worked. I read more.

I love the concept of this chapter book - it's narrated by the super awesome tape dispenser, Veronica, who has recorded all of Rocket's "Captain's Logs". The illustrations are also "hand-drawn" by Rocket and they are adorable. The hilarious dynamic between Veronica, Groot, and Rocket keeps this adventurous story going.
