I love the concept of this chapter book - it's narrated by the super awesome tape dispenser, Veronica, who has recorded all of Rocket's "Captain's Logs". The illustrations are also "hand-drawn" by Rocket and they are adorable. The hilarious dynamic between Veronica, Groot, and Rocket keeps this adventurous story going.

My daughter devoured this book and she enjoyed it so much she begged me to read it too. It had humorous moments, and it was actually kid friendly (potty humor and all).

I picked this up mainly because I like Rocket and Groot, but the two main characters could have been anyone. There was very little Rocket and Groot detail about them. There was very little detail in the entire story. It's structured as a series of captain's logs with only dialogue and "sound of" portions that awkwardly described the actions taking place (even if those actions did not actually make a sound). It reminded me of a less successful Captain Underpants novel.

What do you get when Captain Underpants gets taken over by Marvel? You get Rocket and Groot stranded on Planet Strip Mall. It is a fun book for younger readers with lots of toilet humor. But it is all in good fun. I can not wait for book 2.
