wowwwww this book is the leftist spec fic i have been looking for!! biggest complaint is that it wasn’t longer

Rehashing already imagined theories as fiction but badly written and by academics… pissed me off towards the end

Really interesting idea, unfortunately I couldn’t. Immerse in the world because it felt like it was all exposition. I would love to see this as a video documentary, to a sequel that follows these characters through the history as they are experiencing it.
It’s an awesome hopeful future world that I want to be true, and I would love to immerse myself in the full story of the revolution.

This is an excellent addition to my year of imagining the future as a practice for hope rather than futility. It is so clear these authors have spent their career thinking about organizing and social structure so to that extent the world that is built is lush and complicated and interesting. However, when they focus on specific disciplines beyond their expertise it becomes more clear that they are extending their social lens to other movements rather than thinking what radicalizing those movements themselves would look like. I specifically noticed this in the environmental chapter (likely because that is the space I am in) when the rewilding/bioengineering felt a little flat.
Overall, lovely. Really liked the gimmick of having the authors write an intro that was a blend of reality and future.

Thank you so much to Cat for the recommendation
