Great book. Interesting concept for a murder mystery! I'm giving it four stars cause it wasn't earth shattering. Also the writing wasn't the best around.

My first foray into this authors work. I say 4.5 stars. This is an excellent read. Well written and interesting characters, one of whom has a list of personalities as long as your arm.

Great story excellent writing and thoroughly enjoyed. Off to find another by this author!

Interesting book to read. Makes you want to research the Greek & Roman gods & myths. Very difficult ending. I need to read something light next.

Very disturbing, well written as usual

Deeply disturbed individuals, murder mysteries, art, cop, therapist and lots of interesting personalities. So much going on here, too much for me.

I loved this book. It grabbed my interest from the start and I never got that "Oh come on, enough already" feeling I sometimes get with densely plotted mysteries. It won't be for everyone--- the plot requires some concentration when Holly's alters take front and center and the sections exploring Greek mythology did drag a touch but they are necessary. I am sure there are those who will take exception to the dissociative identity descriptions and treatment but...pfffftttt. It is fiction, it was quite the fun ride, I liked the characters ( even if Cheever does make some questionable decisions.), the plot was intriguing and I do not read mysteries/suspense with an eye towards my continuing education. My one criticism would be that there were two fairly critical plot points that I had easily untwisted by the time I was halfway through BUT that clearly did not keep me from enjoying this very different mystery. I hope Cheever cones back for more!

After meeting someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder, I've come to despise books like this that portray this very misunderstood mental illness in destructive ways. A huge disservice to people who are suffering, and more people should speak out about fictional mis-steps like this one.
