This is definitely a top read of 2019. I was hooked from the first page. I was all over the place with my feelings for these characters. Brody and Lola were on fire from the moment they met. I loved every single word of this book. I didn’t want it to end but I couldn’t stop reading. It was like an addict chasing a high. Now I’m going to be impatiently waiting for book 2.

It was decent. Definitely had some cheesy moments, but some spice and it had great build on the characters Brody, Hut and Lola. Was definitely not expecting the twist at the end. Solid 3 1/2 stars

Well.... shit.
I didn't see that one coming. Uh.... I'm kinda gobsmacked to be honest.
I have so many questions! The first being WHEN CAN I HAVE THE NEXT BOOK!?
Good lord... I'm in all kinds of knots at that ending.

This book was fabulous. So many layers to it, not all of them pretty - hell, most of it wasn't. But, I think that's why I loved it so much.
All the ugly made the beautiful moments shine.
Gah! I NEEEED the next book - like YESTERDAY!
This book deserves more than the 5 stars I'm allowed to give it.

“We were never meant to meet; our paths shouldn’t have crossed.”

As an undercover DEA agent, I always thought things through. I didn’t take chances, because I knew one misstep could have disastrous consequences.

Until I met her.
The little sister of my next target.

Lola was a feisty young woman trying to claw her way out of a bad neighborhood.
She was forbidden in every sense of the word, and not just because of the sixteen year age gap.

We were taught to expect the unexpected, but nothing could have prepared me for what was about to happen.

I fell hard.
I fell fast.
I freefalled heart first.

But there was a secret I was keeping, and if revealed, it’d destroy the lives of those I’d vowed to protect.

One wrong move and everything could erupt in our faces.
All that remained was one question...
Was she worth it?

Free Fall is book one in the Fallen Duet. A two-part, angst-fuelled, gripping tale of forbidden love.

This book ticked a lot of boxes for me

Great read!

From start to finish this story gripped my heart. There were moments where I knew exactly where the story was going and then there were other parts that completely took me by surprise.

This book! Abigail Davies messed with every emotion and just when I thought she couldn't do any more damage to my heart, I made it to the last page. I can't even explain just how that ending messed with my mind, but here's the thing - I kind of saw it coming, I hoped I was wrong, but I suspected. Then we get to the ending, and I'm shaking my head, sure that I can somehow change what's going to happen, but it still does and I'm left thinking 'Oh no, there has to be more, I need more!' Now, that's just the last few pages of this wonderfully written story. Just imagine what led up to this point. The whole thing kept me bouncing around from one emotion to the next. I'd be furious at a character one minute and feeling sorry for them the next, then in the blink of eye, I was mad again. Even the characters that I fell in love with made me want to shake them until their teeth rattled at times, even while I kept rooting for them. Free Fall is a story of a forbidden May/December love, but more than that, it's the story of one young woman determined to make a better life for herself and the twisted route she takes trying to get there.

I couldn’t get enough of this story and probably read it way too fast but I just had to know.
I listened to book 1 in Audible save and finished the last chapters and book 2 on KU.
It’s always tricky reviewing a combined duet when you favour one book over the other.

Book 1:
I loved the rawness and intensity of this book, Lola was fierce and determined, the kind of heroine you want to read about- especially one in her situation- she never let anything get in her way of getting out of the life she was stuck in. I don’t even begrudge the soft spot she had for her stepbrother as she held on to the tiny scrap of the boy he was, though he was most undeserving of it.
This is an unputdownable and utterly all-consuming book for so many reasons, my first by this author.  Age gap is one of my favourite romance tropes and this was very well done. I love the trust and easy banter between The main protagonists.

Brody and the protectiveness he had was instantaneous as was their attraction to each other.
The plot is fast-paced and I especially enjoyed the dynamics of the secondary characters (good, bad and downright evil). Sal is a favourite for sure.
The Plot twist left me clutching my pearls although it was a little preemptive near the end.

RATING: 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
NARRATION: 4/5 ⭐️

Book 2:
I wasn’t blown away as I was with book one but I enjoyed it all the same- the need to know, for Lola to get her well-deserved HEA!
The pace altered to suit the story and there was a roller coaster of emotions that had me reeling.
The storytelling continued and while I was disappointed with Brody he redeemed himself enough to deserve Lola. Lola herself remained strong and unwavering, her determination to better herself despite her circumstances. I loved Jan and Sal even more.
Moria was a woman scorned in every way and her flair for the dramatics was a bit much at times.
So the steam was lacking in this book and I’m not one to judge a book by the amount of spice/ smut- I would’ve liked some consistency across both books.

RATING: 3.5.⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

OVERALL: 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
