Great story, world, and characters. Plus adorable sidekick cyborg puppy-things. I'm looking forward to the continuation of the story in the next volume.

I read this in the single-issue comic form and each issue had an essay or two at the end which I really enjoyed - I hope at least some of them will be included in the collected volume.

It was a nice read. The art was very beautiful and the coloring was very fitting of the time. Am I going to read the other two books? I am not too sure. The novel is about a family who fights, essentially racism. As a person who is experienced racism and is 100% sure it exists, I don't know if this book sis for me. I don't need the lesson, I've already experienced it.

This was surprising! A story where white people’s corruption turns them into literal monsters and a family of black monster fighters reunite when a new type of monster begins terrorizing Harlem in 1924. Great main cast of characters, an intriguing villain in book one, and the first book does some great world-building and mythology developing. A great read, especially from someone who is black and enjoys shows monster shows like Buffy or Charmed. It’s a solid read and I’m excited to jump into the next issues soooooon
