i absolutely loved the first half of this book, especially the characterization of april and how deeply i relate to her. but something about the second half felt really painful to get through and just didn’t grab me as much. i think a lot of it had to do with how quickly things progressed? by their second and third dates, they were already super intimately involved considering how recently they had met. but the ending was adorable! a solid read.

Reading a book about a fat female protagonist is so damn refreshing. I'd give this 4.5 stars if I could, only because I wanted a little bit more from the ending, but April and Marcus's relationship is wonderful to read. They are both relatable and real, and the fact that both of them belong to marginalized communities means so much to me as a fat, queer, chronically ill woman myself. I picked this up from my library but after reading it, I'm definitely going to be adding it to my personal library so I can revisit and read over and over again.
