This book would have gotten a higher score if I wasn't waiting for the very obvious third-act breakup to happen. I also found the inevitable reunion didn't hit the spot or make it worth the breakup.

As I really couldn't put this book down. But knowing what was going to cause the breakup soured it for me as I couldn't figure out why they didn't do something sooner.

A very cute romance with a good dose of body positivity and boundary setting. Also a good depiction of the kind of amazing community fandom offers.

Really intrigued by the plot, not the sort of story I gravitate towards but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Handled sensitive topics such as fat phobia in an elegant manner with ease. Smut scenes included, not many to my recollection but they happen so be wary if you are sensitive to those scenes.

Super cute rom com of two friends to lovers. The main characters know each other anonymously on fan fiction message boards. Then they end up going on a date in real life. The two have past trauma of being emotionally abused from their parents and learn to come themselves and each other together.

Things I liked:
  • plus size main character - April in general was super cool and inspirational and felt fully developed outside of her relationship.
  • Supporting characters and friendships were funny and loveable
  • Love for fandom - it was very cool having the ao3 snippets and stuff throughout the story and the respect and detail given to friendships/communities in fandom was lovely.

Things I didn't enjoy:
  • Deception/miscommunication being the main conflict of the story and then feeling like it was resolved Without much growth from the side of the deceiver.
  • A bit of suspension of disbelief required in many cases
  • Pacing was a little off, latter half felt a bit slow

Overall I enjoyed this book and it was a quick fun read with some great characters!
