Incredible

Oh man this series just keeps getting better and I really hope the next book is coming out soon because that ending was one Hell of a cliffhanger.

Disclaimer, I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars rounded up because I fell for every trick Freeman played.

I've read the other two Frost Easton books and while I thoroughly enjoyed both of them, this one is by far the best! Freeman is an excellent mystery writer and I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out about halfway through the book, and maybe I was having an off week, but all the turns took me by surprise. It stands well on it's own, but would definitely be helpful and prove for a more enjoyable reading experience if you read the previous books in the series.

“Sometimes the road to justice is a crooked street.”
In this case the famed ‘crookedest’ street in San Francisco- Lombard Street. Which also happens to correlate to the crooked red snakes painted nearby victim after victim in this tangled mess of corruption.

Frost’s old friend dies on his doorstep and launches him headlong into a mob-like world as he tries to find the killer. You can’t trust anyone and everyone keeps dying. There’s plenty of the suspense and surprises that Freeman is known for.

I thought this was going to wrap up this series, and I had two pages left and thought I was going to be very unsatisfied with the ending but BOOM he smacks you with a cliffhanger. Hold on to your potatoes folks, we’re not done yet!

This is book 3 in the Frost Easton series but you don’t miss out on many major details if you read this as a stand alone. I personally preferred the first 2 books but this one was still a great read. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it when I started reading but I soon got sucked it.

The crooked street is written well and is full of twists and turns, most of which I did not see coming. There are a few lovable characters including Shack the cat. I honestly didn’t know who to trust and I was suspicious of pretty much everyone. It does finish on a bit of a cliff hanger which I know a lot of people dislike but it definitely made me excited for the next instalment.

If you love your books full of corruption and deceit and love to be kept guessing then I definitely recommend checking this one out.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
