Interesting, in the same vibe as the other books of the series, but a little dull and uneventful. Almost seems like a part 2 of the previous volume which is disappointing. Clearly announces a revolving plot in the next book (books ?).

I love this series and have been waiting impatiently for the release of Soul Taken. It has all the usual elements of a Mercy book but, I don’t know, it feels lacking in some way.
Many of the characters weren’t acting or responding in the way we’ve come to expect. Mercy didn’t feel as present, which is strange as she is the protagonist. Zee is suddenly more dangerous without any real reason for him to be so, apart from as a plot point.
The story, whilst generally well-thought out and plotted, felt rushed. I felt that Sherwood’s identity and the subsequent problems that raises was quickly glossed over, and the whole reason for Warren’s tension and plain nastiness to Mercy was a total non-issue.
Maybe because I was so eager to read it I rushed through it and that’s why it doesn’t feel right. I don’t know. I will reread it again and maybe my thoughts will change.

4 stars. I’m caught up on the Mercy Thompson series! I can’t believe. Never thought I’d see the day. This was good, not a favorite because I found the middle part a little dry but I thought the beginning and ending were great and I always love following Mercy and her adventures. Can’t wait for book fourteen!
