This book was great because it was free with Kindle unlimited. It was a thought-provoking and interesting book about abortion and things that come around with the idea of a physician who provides illegal abortions. I recently gotten into the Medical thriller genre and this wasn’t my number one favorite book but it was good especially if it’s available to you on Kindle unlimited.

While not terrible, 60 pages in (with 350 to go), I could tell that I would be finishing this book for the sake of finishing it, not because I was particularly enthralled in the story. I like most Michael Crichton books and his experience in med school adds an interesting perspective to this book, but a 400 pages book from the 60s about body autonomy and access to abortion is both too out of date and eerily reflective of some of what is happening in the states today to really hold my attention. I may come back to this one another time, but I’m going to take it off my “currently reading” pile for now.

Michael Chricton can do no wrong in my eyes. I always enjoy his novels. This was a fast-paced and very interesting medical thriller.

This book started really well. There was a dead patient, a daughter of a famous doctor and a friend of the protagonist was accused doing the abortion that led to the death of the patient.
It was intriguing (though I am not sure that a layman could enjoy reading it uninterrupted without consulting google or dictionary) and the plot was built really well.
Half through the book, I have to admit that I couldn't put it down until I finished
My problem with this book is there was some unsolved mysteries (or maybe it is just me) at the end and there were so many characters that I constantly have to read it back and forth to figure out who is this person he's calling.
Overall, a solid book but not my favorite Michael Crichton's fiction (that award goes to either Sphere, State of Fear, or the Great Train Robbery).

It is so interesting to read a book from 1968 - and other then some language issues- feel as if you're reading a book written today. Abortion is still such a hot button issue and it's so interesting to see how little the issue has evolved. The book flowed eloquently and made me want to keep going until I reached the conclusion.
