A pretty cute, often funny graphic novel told in a vlog-ish format that was actually quite clever. The main character, Bitty, is a total sweetheart and I really loved him. I always personally relate to characters who like baking, so he was an extra enjoyable person. Some of the side characters were kinda fun, although a few felt underdeveloped. Also on a personal note, I am in no way whatsoever a sports person, and that meant a LOT of the hockey talk went right over my head. It was actually pretty boring to read about the game positions/strategies/wins/etc just because I have no interest or knowledge of any of it. I also wish the romance had more OOMPH to it. Things picked up near the end but I didn't really feel much ZING to the relationship for a lot of the book.
I might keep reading the series when Book #2 comes out? I'm undecided right now, but it you love college sports, frat life, and simple romance, this could be something for you to read!

3.5? Idk it's cute and silly. That's really all I gotta say. Good pastime. I don't really see how the characters started to fall for each other though. Yes they spend time together, but they practice, they don't talk all that much, I don't see them falling in love. The ending kinda came out of nowhere like where we're Jack's feelings this whole book?

This was super adorable and I really enjoyed it. I do wish the story moved a long a little smoother, but I'm aware it was originally a webcomic and the format is fitting to that. I loved the tweet aspect and almost wished that it was sprinkled in with the story instead of included at the end. I think reading it with the tweets sprinkled in would have made for a smoother story telling experience.

Overall I enjoyed it and hope to read the second book eventually.

I read the actual book in under an hour the day I picked it up and then got bored during the 30+ pages of Bittys tweets or “chirps” at the end of the book. I guess it was a cool idea but it was a lot of pretty meaningless words to get through for someone’s who’s a completionist. I’m still giving it five stars because of how I couldn’t put it down (I read most of it in a math class) and because of how much I enjoyed the actual story.

I wanted to read both books before I wrote a review and after reading the second, I do think this one has a bit more of a disjointed storytelling structure. This friend group is very charming but I felt the way each comic was spread out took away a lot of context and any time that could’ve been spent getting to know the characters better. The tweets at the end actually helped fill in some of the gaps though (but wow Bitty tweets way too much😭). I still don’t really know how to rate graphic novels though.

Overall, just a really fun, cutesy, what if this super bro-y group of hockey players were really wholesome actually, little comic collection.
