I got this for my 8 year old and he wanted me to read it too so we could talk about it. I learned a lot and thought the author did a great job on a difficult topic. There was lots of good info and the reader understood the hardships, but there was also some humor to keep it from getting too dark. The tale was inspiring and I hold great respect for those involved in the underground railroad. A great read for kids.

This was an excellent book, well drawn, great narrative, and the story was fast paced and interesting.
Perfect for middle grade social studies/history classes learning about slavery and the abolitionists.

I love this entire series! Nathan Hale has taken history and made it accessible (with a dash of humor!). If you don’t the concept of the series, it revolves around Nathan Hale the Revolutionary War spy who, in the first book, was eaten by a history book so now knows all that has happened in history and is sharing it with the hangman and British officer who are guarding him before he is executed. The first book is Hale’s own story and then each of the following are his telling of different times in history.

This installment of Hale’s graphic novel series may be my favorite so far. I found it to be the most intense of his stories even though it is up against stories of wars, but Harriet Tubman’s story is one of one person’s resilience in the face of pure doom. Although it is evident through any story you hear of Harriet how truly brave she was, Nathan Hale’s story immerses you into Harriet’s life and shows you how much she truly did and faced.

This was my first book in the Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales series, and I am really excited to get more copies for my students. This is an excellent biography about Harriet Tubman, starting with her childhood and ending shortly after the American Civil War. The format was fantastic, and it had just the right amount of humor.

Another in the Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well. These snapshots into history are perfect for the youth (or adult) who wants to refresh themselves and delve a bit deeper into significant points of American History.
I thought I knew the story of Harriet Tubman but I really knew nothing. For instance, the inside cover shows many routes of the Underground Railroad, even parts in Texas! I thought it was confined to the North. I also was unaware that Ms. Tubman fought in the Civil War and actually led an attack (with others).
I look to reading as many as these as possible. The best part: sharing them with the kids and getting them excited about history :)

I’m a 31 year old high school and college graduate and I never knew this much about Harriet Tubman. I found this whole in the children’s section with my girls at the library and thought it would be a cute lighthearted historical graphic novel. I adored it. I learned so much. The little characters they use to keep it light and funny throughout for young ones were very funny and at the same point able to point out how outrageous and insane slavery truly was. I am thrilled this book exists and that I had the good fortune of finding it. I am thrilled to know so many more details on the life of Harriet Tubman and her history, it is truly a heartbreaking life and she was an incredible human being. I’m delighted this book exists and urge others to read it.

I had a hard time taking a break for dinner reading this. Jam packed with action and information, this grahic-novel biography was a stupendous story! I love books that make you think
Spoiler the book is about a random historically-based, but not actually real figure, but then tell you in the middle or end that they're actually about someone who is to only real, but famous!

Anywhoo, highly recommended for readers who like graphic novels, biographies, and who don't mind some graphic content, (there are whippings, images of war, and some really creepy visions displayed).
