I'm confused. I'm pretty sure I liked it but it also doesn't fit the typical picture book format so my brain isn't sure what to do with this. I really loved the illustrations and the creepy feel of the book. I suppose I shouldn't have expected anything less than confusion from Lemony Snicket. Definitely worth the read and the subsequent "huh?"

I love Mr Snicket but I'd have to say that the best thing about this book was that it lead me to this book (I wonder if this is one of Lemony's favorite books?!)

Hmmm...not sure what I think about this one. I like the concept. I think I even liked the 29 points, but somewhere along the line I missed something. Additionally, I am not sure who this book is for. Be interesting to see how kids respond to it.

I just didn't get this one. I thought the mystery would go somewhere and I'd get an answer to what's going on by the end, but I didn't feel like I got that resolution. Makes me wonder if kids will get it. The illustrations were great though.

i am trying to read all of Lemony Snicket’s books, including the very short ones for small children, so i’m logging them here to keep track, even though children’s books feel a bit like cheating my reading challenge.

This is a fun little book that is reminiscent of Harriet the Spy and, you know, my childhood of making things out to be much bigger deals than they actually were. Lisa Brown's illustrations are great - bright watercolors with pencil detailing. I really like Lemony Snicket's stylistic choice of making this like a series of vignettes, rather than a straight forward prose story. It really is JUST like something I would do when I was a kid. (ALSO THE JACKET. LOOK AT THE JACKET!)
