I think to appreciate the quirkiness of this book, one has to approach it like a zine. It’s one big list, some points are dark, others absurd, and yet other are more like thoughts that happened near the infamous Swinster Pharmacy. The illustrations are well-done and add nuisance and context to each listed myth.

Usually I like Snicket's work, but this one isn't particularly clever and there was no joy in it (especially for a picture book!)

This book was weird, boring, and completely pointless. Do yourself a favor and don't pick it up!

I truly did not understand this book. It kind of reminded me of the podcast Welcome to Nightvale, but less imaginative and with absolutely no context or humor. The illustrations were nice and complemented the text, but there wasn't really a "story" here at all.

Not my favorite by Snicket, but a lovely (and mysterious) little book nonetheless.

What does it mean if you finish a book and you don't know if you liked it...
This book was interesting, dark, and strange but when it comes down to it it isn't much of a story. What I mean is the 29 'myths' don't really lead to a conclusion, there is no climax or resolution. I'm not saying that all of this makes it bad or good but it does leave the reader feeling somewhat confused. I felt like maybe I had missed something.
The illustrations were magnificent and were instrumental in creating a creepy and mysterious tone. I would be curious to see how a child would react to this book, maybe I'm just too old to fully get it...?

I don't quite understand what happened in this book...but it was pretty interesting. And the pictures were really pretty!
