I wasn't sure about this book when I started it.  It wasn't really obvious where it was going and it just seemed to be a story about some dragons and their servants trying to survive when food was short.  Well that was until Luteis a wild dragon appeared and changed the course of the lives in Letum Wood forever. The storyline for Sanna and Luteis I though was great, it grew and developed thoughout the book.

At the same there was another newcomer in the form of Maximillion, this is where the book lost that final star.  The storyline for Isadora and Maximillion was weaker.  It did develop and there is definitely a good story in there somewhere.  Unfortuately it didn't really unfold in time to make the final chapters really sing.  Instead it was more of a "how did they get here?" moment that left me somewhat deflated after the big build up in the Sanna/Luteis line.

This is still a series worth pursuing and will be reaching for the seond book at some point to see if Isadora's side can grow more and I'm eager to find out where Sanna goes from here.

I like the writing but these characters..... I love strong female leads however these two girls whine and moan more than necessary. Throwing tantrums, acting over confident instead of asking for help. Ill listen to the next book.. no guarantee I will finish.

The beginning was interesting but it started to lag. I understand the characters being clueless but it’s dangerous to make your readers feel so. I feel that focus was thrust maybe where it shouldn’t have been and a lot of details left out in the name of suspense. However, it picked back up again, enough to make me want to read the second.

A so-so book. Not great, not terrible. I felt the dragons were a bit too anthropomorphic and, at the same time, too simplistic. And although I realize dragonmaster is a frequently used term in this genre, 1)it didn’t fit the roles in this book but more importantly 2)the word “master” gives me the creeps.

I think this book just could have been better.

This was a hidden Hoopla gem and I'm so glad to have stumbled across it. Finally a dragon book that features dragons well. The audiobook was beautifully done with an array of accents and different tone of voice for each sister that really brought the book to life. Politically based books can either be a hit or a miss for me, but this one kept me intrigued the entire way though. Looking forward to continuing the rest of the series.

Come to Antebellum, journey deep into Letum Wood, and experience Sanna and Isadora in ways you haven't before. I didn't believe this world could be expanded any further but I am excited to see where this trilogy takes us. Chock full of teenage angst, loyalty, losing your identity and finding it all over again this book has it all and takes us back to adolescence for a thrilling adventure!

I received a copy of this via Voracious Readers Only.

I absolutely loved this book. It had me hooked from the very beginning. If you love dragons and witches , then you are going to love this book.

Can't wait to read the remaining books.

Witches and their familiar dragons. A good start to a series, leaving a bit of intrigue at the end to give the reader something to look forward to in the next book. Pretty good fantasy, easy to follow.
