My favorite sort of annual issue is one that’s full of flashbacks. That sounded sarcastic, but it wasn’t meant to be. Annuals are the perfect excuse to jump out of the current plot and continuity. They can show you past events, events running alongside a current plot, or even future events.
This issue went with the past, showing us how Domino managed to get her squad together. It’s fun and light, and actually pretty cute all things considered. It focuses a lot of all the effort Domino has made to get her life back in order. And really, it’s impossible not to respect that.

I have really been enjoying this series of Domino, but… this annual was disappointing. And I don't know where to lay the blame for that. Because… what was there was all good, but… it felt like there was a weirdness of structure. It wasn't clear to me whether the individual sections were standalone or parts of a larger whole. And one of the sections had a mid-sentence start that had me searching back through half the issue to see if that sentence had been a mid-sentence conclusion to one of the previous sections, because it was a weird choice. I'm still not 100% sure that there wasn't some sort of misprint, with a page left out for a page of advertising.

I didn't love or hate the annual issue for Domino. I enjoyed the backstory for Outlaw and how she joined the group, but it didn't really jive with the person I've gotten to know. It was an unexpected perspective.

I have no idea why the Cable story was there... it was weird and slightly jarring. Why were they in a bathtub? I know what was insinuated, but it didn't match Cable's thoughts.

I love Domino's relationship with Colossus, though it's not one I understand. I was also happy with the support group mentioned within this issue. It's important for people to love themselves and accept their appearances.

I'm not entirely sure what RejeX is going to be, but it sounds interesting!
