Reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes, but with Kibuishi's signature bright, vivid artwork.

I’ve had this book for many years, and the simple, almost poetic, stories and art continue to be pleasant to read and reread.

I am maybe not as enthused about Kazu Kibuishi as others seem to be - this book made barely any impression on me at all, save that I do like the artist's landscapes. And colors.
2021 update: I read it again, probably 10 years later, and found that Fred and Copper had stuck in my mind… so yes it’s an unprepossessing collection, but a very dear one. Sometimes things don’t have to be flashy.

I really enjoyed this collection of short pieces centered around Fred and Copper. The two characters balance each other nicely. The at-times dry humor is wonderful and the illustrations make the stories pop!

This reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes in many ways. Lots of existentialism and zen thinking, but always with a fun twist.

I ended up enjoying this more than I thought I would! I read Flight a few years ago and hated it but read a few volumes of Amulet and really enjoyed it so I figured I would give this a shot since I’m trying to read more graphic novels this year. Other than the piece featured in Flight, I hadn’t read any of the Copper comics before so I didn’t realize that most of them were single page comics. I actually really enjoyed the shortness of them as well as their emotional significance. Kibuishi is able to handle such complex topics with ease - it was quite comforting! I also really enjoyed the sense of consistency between comics with some repeat characters. Overall, a great read! Made for some relaxing reading material amongst the heaviness of my finals and final projects.

This is a collection of Kazu Kibuishi's webcomic Copper. The art is beautiful, with images that readers of Kibuishi's Amulet series will recognize motifs and themes. Each comic is also a whimsical fantasy story about Copper and his dog Fred that appeals to the very young to the very old.

Worth reading.

Started out really good and dark, but as it went on the comics got more predictable and punchline-based. Still, Kibuishi's world-building is incredible.

Didn't realise this was a comic strip when I bought it, thought it was more a graphic novel. This is no Calvin and Hobbes, but is a gentle, at times touching, at times lightly funny series.

Based on Amulet, I bought it for our primary school library. I don't think it will prove to be very popular with that age group.
