It is truly frightening that people cannot see what is right in front of them when they become totally consumed by a cult. The extent to which people can be manipulated is astounding - especially in the face of absolute proof that their "beliefs" are nothing more than that!

The interesting fact is that cult behavior is much more common than people believe - just look at how easily people are manipulated and controlled by social media, and you have all the proof you need!

The book itself was somewhat longer than necessary, so I deducted one star, but still a facinating read.

Tim Rackley, somtimes a US Marshall is one of my new heroes. The Program By Gregg Hurwitz is the second book in this series and in this one he faces the troubles that comes with cults. A man wants his help getting his daughter out from a group and then the troubles really start. How do you go about getting someone out of the clutches of brainwashing and money grabbing cults? Rackley has no idea. But it will get him back as a Marshall and he thinks how hard can it be? I feel like the characters and setting in this series is very realistic compared to Hurwitz more famous Orphan X. I can only recommend that you read this series and I am glad that I finally found the time for it. Great books.

This was a good story that could have been written in half the space. Cults are scary. After a couple chapters on mind control, the next 50 chapters of the same thing became just monotonous. I almost gave up on this book half way. I forced myself on and the finish was good, but it took way too long to get there.

I liked the plot and enjoyed the storyline. Well, it was pretty disturbing and scary to think about cults played out in real life but it was an engaging story and a good page-turner. I'm not sure if I will read any more of his books though as it had quite a bit of swearing that I'd rather do without. Disappointing because other than some of the language I think I would enjoy his other books.

Riveting, can't stop reading

Could not stop on the ending. Literally reading fast as I can and an amazing rush to the conclusion. Love it and recommend highly. Most hated bad guy of many as he is do real and prevalent today from megachurches begging money to political figures. Wanted him taken down.
Try it out.
Hurwitz is always a great read

A much slower burn than other books I've read from the same author.
