DID NOT FINISH: 33%

I was listening to this as an audiobook and I think that the combo of listening as an audiobook and the density of the material did not work. I found it very hard to understand the broad points the author was making - and I don't think I would have if i was reading a physical copy. By no means bad or uninteresting, just wasn't the correct time or method to be reading the book.

I learned so much from this book! Federici is a genius—maybe too much of one, because this book was very challenging for me and really hard to follow at times! But the amount of depth and detail and ability to analyze sources and history is honestly unparalleled here. Docking .5 because I can’t in good faith give a 5 to a book I found very educational but also very dry. It’s more of an academic work than a book. But that’s more personal preference than anything.
