The middle got a bit drawn out for me, but I liked seeing Erin act like an actual person would… making mistakes, finding info on google, etc etc. I did like the ending, though the Holly part sort of confused me? Didn’t really remember her part from the beginning, so that must be why.

Good mystery and thriller. Fairly predictable towards the end but still kept me reading. It was a little choppy at times and jumped around for some parts, but overall a good read.

I really enjoyed this book!
I was wary going in, as I always am when reading an author I never have before, but I was really impressed. Without spoiling it, I really loved how the author led you to solve it way before the solution was revealed. It lets the reader feel so smart, and through no effort whatsoever! AND on top of that, it wasn't frustrating that the narrator didn't catch on because so many of us have been in her shoes. I know I have (albeit under much less thrilling circumstances)!
One thing I found a little odd was pregnancy. Why is pregnancy always brought up in mysteries? It makes me feel like I need to knock on wood or something, like its contagious. Although it usually feels forced, it at least made sense in this particular story.
The main drawback in my opinion was Holly's storyline. I felt that it was anticlimactic, and at times just sort of roughly shoved into the story. It could have been dropped or concluded much sooner. It felt like a weird note to end on for sure.
Overall, I definitely recommend this book. It was a fantastic journey!

Erin and Mark a young couple are very much in love and are busy planning their wedding and honeymoon to Bora Bora. Erin is budding documentary filmmaker and Mark a successful investment banker but just before the wedding Mark loses his job and finds it difficult to get another one. They both still decided to put their troubles decide and go on their lavish honeymoon. During their two weeks of of pure enjoyment they decided to go on a scuba diving adventure and what they find in a bag there changes their lives forever.

Something in the Water is an enjoyable debut thriller by Catherine Steadman. The start of the book was a little slow as we are introduced to the characters but the book picks up pace at around 35%. Strong well developed characters makes this an interesting read and will look forward to reading more by this author.

I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine Ballantine Books & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.
