I didn’t really expect this book to go the direction that it did. Once I found out what was “in the water”, I was a bit disappointed. Very anti-climactic. Not to mention super predictable. It was so difficult for me to finish this. Almost every time I picked it up I would make it 2-3 chapters before falling asleep. I almost DNFd it but pushed through in hopes that it would get better. It did not.
There were too many added internal thoughts of the main character that it really bogged the story down. Just wasn’t for me.

On their honeymoon, a couple finds something unexpected in the ocean. What follows is the wild ride after they decide to tell no one.

I really enjoyed this one. The ocean discovery element was unique for me. It was a good read even though it was a rather predictable ending.

I have.......a lot of questions.

Also for anyone trudging through this, I highly recommend the audiobook!

This was enjoyable enough. Reasonably fast-paced, reasonably well written. The plot is ever so slightly preposterous and requires a certain suspension of disbelief, but I guess that's not the most salient point for a beach read. And the first-person narrator -- a rather ditzy and naive yet spoiled documentary filmmaker (weird, right?) -- is neither a particularly likeable character nor a true anti-hero. I'm probably more surprised to have made it all the way to the end than I am by the ending.

this protagonist is either a complete idiot or I’m a criminal mastermind which is possible. but oh my god there was nothing thrilling about this - Erin was right when she said “what the actual fuck” every 10 minutes of dialogue.

This book took me a little while to read as it starts out with Erin digging a hole and it takes a while to get to the point where we could follow along and understand. I will say that after that first chapter it does go back in time to show us what has happened leading up to the point where the book started. Erin. and her husband Mark are the main characters in this book and we are provided with what has been going on in their lives and we can see what they do to overcome daily struggles.
