to be honest, i suck at writing reviews but this is my view:
- most to least fave: Winter's Child, Belle, Sunlight and Shadow
- Dokey's writing style is as whimsical as the fairy tales they're rooted from
- the romance was a good 3 star quality bc my type of romance is a little different. nevertheless, the stories are still great

I found this book to be to much of an obsession over boys, glamor, and all if that. So it was very hard for me to make it through the whole book. With that in mind I am not much of a girly girl either and prefer some of the more gruesome novels.

I'd have to say that this is the first book I've ever hated. I actually read this book months ago, during the spring of 2013 and was a little hesitant to buy it. (I actually wish I didn't now)

I understand that this book is a retelling older fairy tales, such as The Beauty and the Beast, The Magic Flute, and The Snow Queen, but it was written in the way the authour felt the story should of ended.
The book was frustrating. It took me 3 days to read it because I wanted to read each story separately, not at once.
I'll let you know after the first day the 2 left almost made me give up the book. I harboured a deep anger about how the other stories ended. Since I read this book months ago I do not feel like remembering my thoughts of anger from those days nor do I feel like going upstairs to my room to get the book.

I do not want to spoil it for people who have not read the book yet, but I'll say that I read how The Snow Queen ended right after I finished the book, as it is the last story, and I'll say that I like how the real story ended. That didn't break my heart as this book did.

Even writing this now hurts, therefore I'll stop here.

It's better to borrow the book from a friend or find it in a library than buy it yourself.
:) (The only story that left my with a half-smile is the first story).

This book and the rest in this Once Upon a Time series are not what I thought they would be. They are almost like YA chapter books. Unfortunately, that means that the stories will not be developed enough for me personally. I read the first book in this bind-up, Belle. It was pretty good. I would rate it 3 stars. I liked the characters and the writing, but by the time we met the Beast there weren't that many pages left and it was all rushed and anti-climactic. And this was the one that I wanted to read the most. I just don't see myself giving any more of this book or the others more than a 3 star rating and so as a result, I've lost interest. I think these books would be perfect for the tween and younger teen who enjoy retellings. Unfortunately my own daughter is not interested in retellings or else I would pass them on to her.
