One Perfect Kiss is a sweet friends to lovers romp through Hope. With visits from all our friends and a sneak peek at some other relationships, everything is perfect in Hope.

Everything except self doubt and a past that troubles our heroine. It's a good thing the coach doesn't give up too easily. He has his work cut out for him.

Two teachers gets the hots for each other. That sums it up. Though they have been friends for a while since they are in the came circle of friends, and they have flirted. But they have never taken that next step since they teach at the same school.

Also Josie is an English teacher and some of the football players are failing. And Zach is the football coach and he wants his team to go state. Though it does not really cause drama cos they are both so understanding.

Josie has some issues from her past.
Zach seems ready to love, so no issues there.
Though again, it does not cause that much drama cos they take it slow.

She freaking LOVES animals and wants to adopt them all. That was cute. Someone needs to adopt the ugly, old and those that need love too.

You all know there will be a HEA so there is no surprise that in the epilogue they talk engagement and I found it weird when she said they were taking it slow and still they were getting married after a year together...that is not taking it slowly.

OK so that all seems great right? Weeeell, frankly I kept wondering where that something was. I mean it was good and all, but at the same time it was boring. There was SO much dialogue, and most about trivial thing like what they would eat or talking what they would wear. And on top of that she also described what they were eating and wearing all the time. And then there were the friends, I could not keep them all straight. She always mentioned them in a group and never one on one. So ok one single, 2 preggos, married peeps, why do they all have to meet together? I get that they are previous couples but still, I do not care about them and no for the hundredth time i do not wanna hear that you are preggo and how you all are dealing.

It does work as a stand alone, it's not like I felt lost. But she obvi expects that you are invested in the other characters which I was not.

It felt like she had phoned it in. I like drama free books, but this one needed some drama to get it exciting and get these lovely people to stop talking and being kind.

Too much talking, not enough action

Narrator
I fear I had issues here too, her female voices sounded the same (except Josie's mum who sounded 80), her males voices blended together and then both female and male voiced blended together. Put in 6 couples and you have no idea who is talking.

Honestly this relationship felt kinda forced. This isn’t my favorite book from this author. I just wasn’t feeling the chemistry between the too main characters at all. I did like them separately but not together.
Very cute cat, bunny and a dog with lots of personality.
Good friend group.
Prob won’t re-read.

Josie has a dark past filled with family issues that she's trying to leave behind her, yet it leaves her with issues getting close to people and questioning what it means to love someone. Zach's past consists of a professional football career cut short by a knee injury which he seems to have gotten over now that he's a high school football coach and History teacher. With so many friends in common, and with Josie being an English teacher at the same high school, it was inevitable that Josie and Zach became close. Just how close depends on Josie's ability to move past the hurt others have caused her and Zach's determination to show Josie just how dedicated he is to their future.

Thoughts: First, let me say that I'm a huge fan of Jaci Burton's novels. Her books consistently have fun characters, humor, and interesting plot lines. Sadly, One Perfect Kiss did not meet the normal standard. I found all of the characters lacking any real depth, with each being placed in their own respective stereotypes. The interactions between the characters lacked any real emotion and chemistry, and the dialogue alternated between redundant and confusing (i.e. when Zach is supposedly taking a moment to reign in his amorous thoughts to slow the moment down and not do anything rash, but in the next sentence propositions Josie). There are plot holes, hurriedly-explained backstories, and plot lines that deserved more attention but ended up feeling like filler (i.e. a surprise wedding that could have been a beautiful moment if it were approached differently with how it was presented to readers). I was very disappointed in this book and I am hoping Burton's next title is better...

Este libro ha empezado bien, pero la segunda mitad del libro me ha sido completamente indiferente. Podría haberlo abandonado y no me habría importado. Es una pena porque esta serie me estaba gustando, y acabarla así... pero bueno, es lo que hay.
Seguiré leyendo más libros de la autora porque me tiene intrigada

Teachers and good friends Josie Barnes and Zach Powers shared an instant connection from the very start. But friends is all they've been up until now. Josie has been focused on trying to find a strong sense of home, and she has found that in Hope, Oklahoma. A high school English teacher now, she has found so many wonderful friends, especially fellow teacher Zach. As Josie is not one to believe in fairy tales, she can't imagine taking their friendship beyond a little fun.

Zach is a history teacher and, as a former pro football player, is now the high school's football coach. Currently, however, he is a bit aggravated, although completely drawn Josie as she has threatened to bench a couple of his key players. How can he avoid the dual frustration with keeping his players on the team and his growing attraction to Josie?

One Perfect Kiss is a real feel-good read. I smiled widely more than once while reading this story. There was a strong sense of magic and love during this journey to true love This was also a sensitive and engaging read, especially concerning Josie and her past and feelings. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the wonderful animals in this story, it added a level of sweetness to such a well-written book.

This is Book 8 in the Hope Contemporary series and is full of all of the friends that have met and fallen in love in all of the previous titles in this series. Although a terrific stand-alone novel, for a great sense of continuity of character development, don't hesitate to read the previous titles.

ARC received and this is my honest opinion.

ARC received via Netgalley for an honest review

It has been a while since I have read a Jaci Burton story, and I have not read any of the previous Hope book, however this did not affect my enjoyment of One Perfect Kiss.

Zack and Josie's story is sweet and cute and adorable and just the light read that I needed this past weekend after reading a few emotionally draining stories in a row.

I loved the support characters (even though I hadn't read any of their stories), they are all well rounded and added a lot of depth to the story.

I did get a bit frustrated with Josie's flip-flopping between wanting Zach and then whining about how her ex hurt her and how Zack would too. I wanted to talk some sense into her!

I am a big fan of stories with characters that are animal lovers - makes me miss my old girl but makes me smile!

I really enjoyed my tour of Hope, Oklahoma, and I have already added some of the previous books to my kindle.

Can't wait to see what Ms Burton brings us next.

High school teacher Josie Barnes and the school’s football coach Zach Powers have known each other for a while now since they socialize with the same group of friends. They’ve subtly flirted at parties but haven’t gone beyond those interactions. When Josie hands out failing grades to some of his players, Zach initiates their first real one-on-one meeting. Josie’s sensitive to her students and other teachers seeing them fraternize but they really enjoy each other too much to stay apart.

One of the reasons I love this series is the strong sense of community found in Hope, Oklahoma. In every book, characters from previous stories are present in meaningful ways with some contribution to the current issues. Josie had a tough childhood so moving here and creating these relationships is more than a lifeline. Her issues were directly tied to her past experiences, clouding her judgment where Zach was concerned. While he also had a disappointing relationship with his family growing up, the impact was completely different and their contrasts were interesting. Their network of friends offered valuable perspectives to Josie and Zach as they navigated their way towards a relationship.

I liked the story, especially how rescued animals were featured. Not only were Josie and Zach nurturing them, they were also healing the humans’ souls, a very powerful message. The narrator did a good job of capturing Josie (and the other female characters), even though she could be uneven at times, but her male voices were a challenge. I still really enjoyed listening to the story and was just happy to be back in Hope and catching up with everyone from the earlier books. 3.5 stars
