Meh, this arc involves three Bat's villains, Mr. Freeze, Ivy and Mad Hatter (almost forgot Ra's at the end of the story), the conclusion it's super mediocre, Snyder lost his great streak since The New 52 finale.

I didn’t particularly adore this collection of stories. The storytelling is different from what I’m used to, & I did enjoy some parts here or there. I absolutely fell in love with Tula Lotay’s art, though !!

Better than volume 1, but still disappointing.

I think Snyder wanted to experiment with the After Death style in this book? A lot of it is large art pieces with prose-style text boxes. It makes for a Batsy that doesn't speak much as most of his narrative takes place in thought boxes. I actually really, really liked that. Similar to Black Widow, Batman seems like a very internal person to me. I don't think he would be prone to a ton of dialogue, especially when he's doing recon.
The story with Bruce and Pamela is actually really moving. I'll admit, I didn't see a way to give us an emotional tie to Pamela. I mean, I too love her relationship with Harley but I haven't really read much with the character and when I think of her, usually uma Thurman comes to mind. The decision to give her a tie to a girl who's story parallels hers was genius. It actually made me care for her quite a bit.
The art is very lovely in this book. I love the colors as much as the last book and the lines have changed for the better. They switched artists a few times and I liked all of them equally.
Again, this is a Batman I can actually like. I love Bruce's characterization here. I love the way he gets through to the villains in this series. The portion with Mr. Freeze was very good. Mr. Freeze is even kind of a sympathetic villain in that I understand why he's doing what he's doing. I think Snyder is just really good at writing villains because Freeze is yet another that I didn't particularly care for before this book.
Bruce defeats Ra's al Ghul with wits and cleverness which is always something I like to see.
I love Bruce's relationship with Duke. Of course it reminds me of his relationships with the Batboys but it's different because Bruce is trying to be different with Duke. Duke's decision to find his own path as a hero was great! I really liked the interlude into his life.
Also, Duke's been through a lot. Give the guy a break, man.
I think the difference between Snyder's Batsy and Rebirth Batsy in other series (especially that terrible King series) is that his team ups and strategies actually make sense here. I understand why he trusts these people, the relationships are well established and he's not doing things that confound me. Also, the villains are not only well written, they're not complete caricatures. I understand why their reasonings and they're not so ridiculously dramatic. Everyone has a human side to them and Snyder gets that.
Which why, in my opinion, this book is leagues above King's Batman run.
But that ending though! I can't wait for the next one!

I could see the look in his eyes just before the flamingo hit. The question. How did I know? Simple. Because my family knows how to #$%^ fight.

This issue/volume was very disappointing to me. First, there is various style of art work, but non of them please me that much. Second, the story are not that related, this is more of a collection of issue but not much of a storyline between them, so thats make them kind of not «necessary» I would say, like they lake a solid plot line to attach them to the Batman universe, they just seem out of nowhere. Last point, the story nothing captivating nor entertaining and a selection of villain that sure aren't in my top five... Like I said... disappointing!

Yeah, didn't finish this one. It was too dark and deary.
Didn't like the stories that I read, or the style of the layout, or the artwork. So this had nothing going for it, in my honest opinion.
Doubt I'll bother with vol 3.
