The tales in this collection are varied, both in style and interest. I found I liked the bracketing story of mice telling tales in the inn best, probably because it was drawn by Petersen and my primary live of Mouse Guard is the art.

A lovely way to flesh out the Mouseguard universe. Makes me really want Petersen to come out with another core volume - I still find myself resting on his illustrations (particularily the Wythrashers). There is definitely value in having other creators create parts of this epic universe, though. Love how close some of the entries are to Petersen's style, and how far away others choose to be.

I love short story anthologies but this was mY first time ever reading a collection of short graphic novels. Ranging from 2-6 pages the stories and illustrations spanned styles and genres. From light-hearted to grim and bleak, this collection has a little bit of everything. Some authors filled their panels with text while others communicated whole stories without text at all. This is only my second excursion into the world of the mouse guard, but I’m definitely looking forward to returning again in the future!

Beautifully illustrated with a variety of short stories set within the framework of mice at an inn trying to pay off their bar tab by telling the best story. A variety of art styles make each tale unique. Some of the stories are classics-- Nevermore by Poe makes an appearance as does The Lion and the Mouse. These feel a bit out of place in a book that has mostly a wealth of new, rich stories.
Overall, it's a lot of fun and will appeal to lovers of Redwall and fantasy graphic novels.

Not as good as the regular Mouse Guard books, but a very interesting way to handle having other authors write in your world. It was nice to see the different styles and interpretations of the various artists of the Mouse Guard world.
