Cindi Madsen's books are always delightful to read. This one is no exception. Royce is one sexy hunk but to me the star of this book is Miss Sadie Hart. Love, love, love her.

The beginning was very captivating, it was one of those books which you start and just keep on reading. IT is a reflection on our hopes and dreams. It is a story of two people whose life didn't turn out to be the way they envisioned. But in the end they realise; it wasn't such a bad thing after all. Sometimes what destiny has in store for us is better than what we wanted. I also liked the idea of "Second Chance Ranch." And it fits in the whole plot beautifully, capturing the true meaning of hope and love. I think the whole book is great and well written. It is a must read for those who are looking for second chances. But then aren't we all? ;)

Sadie had left her small town and the boy she loved to fulfill a dream that didn't happen. Now she is back. Not much has changed in her small town and it reminds her of all that she has missed. especially what she had with Royce. She still misses him but things had not ended well for them. On her very first day back she meets him and it is clear that he has still not forgiven her for leaving and breaking his heart.

Royce has no idea how to react. Clearly he is still a little bit in love with Sadie but he cannot forgive her. She had broken his heart and since then he hasn't been the same person. Now he has his ranch to think about. Nothing else seems more important than making it work. It was his father's dream and now his. As far as Sadie is concerned he will have nothing to do with her. That woman was, and most probably still is, trouble.

Then by luck he got to hire her to work on his ranch. Sadie needs a job desperately and he needs a woman employ just as desperately. So it works out for both of them. But the real problem is staying away from each other and overcoming intense attraction they both still feel.

I really enjoyed reading it and I hope everyone else do too. Happy reading everyone! :)

I've always been a great fan of second chance romances. And this one definitely made me want to listen to Carrie Underwood the whole time. If I were to make a soundtrack for this read, it would be purely Carrie Underwood songs.

Sadie Hart left town to be a country singer. It was the dream she'd always wanted to pursue. And in order to fulfil a dream, sacrifices must be made. And for that, she left behind her family and her high school boyfriend, Royce Dixon, in order to live the dream.

But not all dreams do come true. A contract gone wrong led Sadie to return to Hope Springs to look for a temporary job. And who knows, maybe it's karma or whatever, but she lands a job at the Second Chance Ranch, which is owned by her ex-boyfriend.

Second Chance Ranch is a camp for the troubled youth, and is run by Royce Dixon and his mom. Kids that struggle through depression, anger issues and lots more are sent there. Dealing with kids, especially the young teens aren't easy, either they're so aloof or just wouldn't want to be handled. But when Royce sees that Sadie is very good with the kids -- and animals too! -- he's got no choice but to hire her, because he needs all the help he can get, even if he's still heartbroken with what Sadie had done years ago.
"Why, if it isn't the famous Sadie Hart. I'm still waiting to hear you on the radio. When's that gonna happen, by the way?"
I adored Sadie, she's such a sweetheart and she's basically THE person and animal whisperer. Everyone loves her, animals and people alike. He's an aloof character, bouncing along the lines of hot and cold towards Sadie, even to the kids. It's just that Royce is such a bitter bitch towards her. I mean, he was hurt and all, but Sadie was just a total sweetie and I couldn't bring myself to hate her character.

I loved how these two started to feel for each other once again when Sadie spends her time at the ranch. But a couple of times, it did get frustrating just because of Royce's hot and cold antics. Often times, I'm like "Do you want her back... or naw?"

But nonetheless, I love how this book ended. It's sweet, and a little on the bitter edge, because yes, there's always heart ache and pain, but of course, like any other sweet story, there's always a happy ending. And, I really want Cory's story to be up next.

Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books. Also check out my interview with Cindi here.

What a sweet second chance romance story! I absolutely loved Royce--the high school boyfriend Sadie left behind, who's trying to keep his parents' dream alive after the death of his father. He's such a great guy--working with his best friend and his mother, really caring about the troubled kids at the ranch and the working ranch as well--and doing his best to keep it all together, even though he doesn't have enough time or help, and he's constantly feeling as if his best is "less than" what his dad did.

It so isn't. The poor guy.

Enter Sadie--she's also a very sympathetic character, don't get me wrong--I loved her too. She's been trying to follow her dream for the past six years, and has nearly lost herself in the process. Her agent's told her she needs to be thinner, blonder, and have bigger boobs (fortunately, she hasn't followed through on that last one yet) and after almost signing with a label and having it fall through for the second time, she's dead broke and heading back to Hope Springs, Wyoming to regroup--and replenish her depleted bank account.

Even without reading the blurb you know from the very first chapter that Sadie's going to end up working at Royce's ranch. Naturally, it takes the two of them a little bit longer to give in to the inevitable...

I love second chance at romance stories, and Cindi Madsen's writing makes this one so much fun to read. Even though there's nothing groundbreaking or new going on here, it's so easy to care about these two characters and want to cheer them on as they dance around getting back together. (It totally doesn't hurt at all that he's a cowboy and she loves country music either! ;) ) There's a lot of promise in the series--Sadie's best friend Quinn is nicely set up for a future story involving a certain mysterious biker, and Royce's best friend Cody obviously is going to get past his womanizing ways eventually. Can't wait!

My Review!
This was just adorable! Even though these books are short, I still find most of them to be realistic and many feel like a whole story. And after reading the synopsis, I knew I wanted this one. Country music is my addiction, and I'd already met Sadie back in Accidentally Married on Purpose, and I couldn't wait for her story.

I was not disappointed with miss Sadie Hart. She's a genuine, down-to-earth gal who's trying to make it in the competitive country music scene. And when it doesn't work out, she's forced to go back to the place she couldn't wait to leave behind to lick her wounds and figure out her next step. She's able to have some much needed downtime, and being away from the Nashville scene makes her feel like herself again, like she can breathe without someone there telling her what she needs to do to make it big. And there she finds Royce Dixon, her high school sweetheart and the guy she left behind to pursue her dreams.

Royce was a bit harder to figure out, a guy who keeps his emotions locked down and his personality contained. He's fighting hard to save the ranch and Second Chance, the rehabilitation program that his dad founded and his mom runs now. It's hard with there only being the two of them, and Royce doesn't want to let down his mom or ruin the dream his dad worked so hard to make come true. He's a little embittered, and his grief makes him feel like he's not doing enough. But he is, and he's worked tirelessly to keep the ranch and program going. But Sadie's return threatens his carefully constructed walls and the heart that hasn't stopped loving her.

I love stories about high school sweethearts, and I love stories about second chances. And I got two of my favorite tropes in one book! Sadie and Royce were in love when they were teens; their relationship was genuine then, full of feelings that both of them knew meant forever. But sometimes relationships end, and two ex-high school sweethearts travel down different roads but end up meeting again at a crossroads. And the love that had blossomed between them in high school became even deeper and more passionate as adults. Both Sadie and Royce had to let go of old hurts, resentments, and regrets to remember what they had and that they deserved a second chance.

And I adored the secondary characters, like Sadie's family and Royce's mom. And I also loved the story-line involving the rehabilitation program and the kids that show up in the beginning stubborn and with an attitude but end up leaving with smiles on their faces and an experience that changes their hearts.

Second Chance Ranch was a sweet and adorable story about love, life, new dreams, and second chances. :)
