Lovely illustrations- would work in a farm storytime or an art theme.

Reminded me a bit of Wiesner's "The Three Pigs" where the characters in the art come off of the page. The art is fantastic. One of the chickens comes off the page to help the artist finish the painting, and she accidentally spills the blue.

I love realistic watercolors and this is a wonderful book for showcasing that kind of art. We begin with a half-finished painting of a farmyard scene. The barn is penciled in, ready to be painted with the brush nearby. All seems firmly set in "real life" until one of the chickens IN the painting steps over to a pot of blue paint and decides to "help" by painting the barn blue. The paint spills and now she's got a big problem! The other animals in the painting come to life and we're quickly immersed in a pretend world that's darn cute.

An artist is ready to finish painting a farm scene. All that is left is the barn, but one of the chickens wants to help. The chicken finds a pot of blue paint and gets it EVERYWHERE! Blue chickens, blue cow, blue cat...but maybe the chicken can find some way to fix it? This is a very cute, short, and simple book that breaks the fourth wall.

Chicken only wants to help color the scene, but by knocking over the blue paint has she made the scene forever blue? I thought this book would be great for kids, especially those that want to help but seem to make a mess when trying.

This was recommended at a local reading council meeting at a large bookstore. Love the colors, and the examples you could use with students. It's very vibrant, and downright cute. It would also be fun for students to try to emuulate some of the illustrations (caution: lots of newspaper protection would be needed!)

Charming illustrations, but I'm missing a point a little bit.
