Reread as a trade. Still a mess. There are some interesting ideas here, but this miniseries is a pretty good look into the mismanagement of the Krakoan era. All of the writers do a great job of talking about how close knit they were, particularly in the early days, but as things went on and after Hickman left, you could feel that there was some trouble in mutant paradise. It really feels like much of the good will brought from HoxPox was squandered.
I went back to this during my partial reread of the era because I had completely forgotten how it actually played out; it’s that forgettable, and, from what I can tell, nothing was done with any of the ideas.

The Trial of Magneto is a misleading title... If anything, it's the Trial of the Great Pretender, Scarlet Witch. It's of the Maximoff's faults that they were unmutanted Marvel during the Fox IP war. Worth a read.

A predictable middle section to an otherwise great X-Men arc

Better than the rest. I liked this one because the Scarlet Witch is one of my favorite characters.

Not great, honestly? Although I get that recent events, like Inferno, are referencing previous X-Men events and putting a new spin on them by recontextualizing the title, I don't even feel like Magneto went through that much here. There were very few metaphorical trials and not a single literal trial. Scarlet Witch isn't really in the X-books since HoX/PoX, so we just have to either have read their previous interactions or infer their relationship. I don't really understand the Waiting Room. It's a messy event that didn't work for me.

3 stars for the art alone. The story …. existed. Kind of. I would have to see the ramifications of the ending before I judged it I think.
