Wow, this was just bad. I am sure there are better ways to teach your kids than to act like an idiot. :|
The MC was an annoying little brat and I disliked him a lot.
Illustrations were meh.
Wouldn't recommend.

As a middle age woman I can't give it a rating, but my 7 year old twins loved this book. And I enjoyed reading it aloud to them.

I think this is a really great book for elementary students. I read this when I was in the third grade. Lol. I was so loyal to this series. This series reminds me of an ex friend of mine. I read two books in one day. I am literally on a role at this point. Love ❤️ !!!

Not my kind of book/series (main character reminds me of a 2nd grade Greg Heffley), but I can see the appeal it would have to some readers in 1st or 2nd grade. AJ announces proudly that he hates school on the first day of 2nd grade. (Heartbreaking! Not the kind of attitude we encourage in my school or family.) His teacher, Miss Daisy, confesses she also hates school and can't read or write or do math. She may not be completely honest about this, as she employs some clever ways of getting the kids to show what they know and teach her, as well as to get excited about reading. (Though I'm not generally in favor of reading incentives, the idea of getting the whole school to work together to read a million pages is kind of fun.) Some inconsistencies bothered me--this series seems aimed at 1st or 2nd graders in content and judging by the age of the characters, but the negativity seems so out of place with this age of student (and any 6 year old reading these books would be at or above grade level--why give them the idea of hating to read/learn/go to school?). The students also know a lot of things that aren't generally learned until later, like multiplication.

Giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because I know there are kids who enjoy these books, and I'm generally in favor of any books that kids want to read. I just know these won't be part of my family's library.

Such a cute kids book!! I will be seeing about the series! I thought (through adults eyes) the teaching methods were amazing and I will be happy to see where the series goes! I totally recommend this for any kids!

I didn't like how the main character called things and people "dumb," but I thought the story was clever and had a good message. Great for 1st and 2nd graders.

Very comical book about a little boy (A.J.) who is dealing with a 'dumb' teacher in second grade. All the students have to help Miss Daisy out so can learn.

I am starting a kindergarten lunchtime book group at my library, and on the recommendation of some parents who will be bringing their kids I decided our first session would involve reading the My Weird School books. These books are insanely popular with the kids at my library. In Miss Daisy is Crazy we have A.J., who hates school, and Miss Daisy, who agrees she hates school and acts like she doesn't know anything. Obviously, Miss Daisy is pretending to know nothing to get her students to "help" her out with math, reading and writing. It's cute if questionable, though A.J. figures out by the end that she's just joking. The kids think it's hilarious. A.J. says "hate" and "dumb" a lot, so I can see some parents having a problem with that. It's a very simple story for early readers that manages to work in math problems, reading and spelling as well as the importance of school.
