Miss Daisy Is Crazy! by Dan Gutman

2.0

I am starting a kindergarten lunchtime book group at my library, and on the recommendation of some parents who will be bringing their kids I decided our first session would involve reading the My Weird School books. These books are insanely popular with the kids at my library. In Miss Daisy is Crazy we have A.J., who hates school, and Miss Daisy, who agrees she hates school and acts like she doesn't know anything. Obviously, Miss Daisy is pretending to know nothing to get her students to "help" her out with math, reading and writing. It's cute if questionable, though A.J. figures out by the end that she's just joking. The kids think it's hilarious. A.J. says "hate" and "dumb" a lot, so I can see some parents having a problem with that. It's a very simple story for early readers that manages to work in math problems, reading and spelling as well as the importance of school.
