Overall this was enjoyable. The first part had some great funny moments and enjoyed the banter between the aunties and between Meddy. I also liked the discussion of Chinese wedding traditions. But by the middle of part 2 I was bored. I knew she’d get out of any trouble for killing the guy and got tired of hearing how they would mess up with the body. Also I wanted to know more back story of the auntie’s dynamic. Wanted to know why such rivalry. Yes siblings usually have a reason for fighting. Everything tied up in a somewhat reasonable way and there was a sweet ending.
OMG this had me cracking up! Very much a “cozy” mystery with a whole lot of humor. It reminds of the Finlay Donovan series and those kinds of vibes, which I also love!
OMG this was FUN! Medi accidently murders her blind date and she calls her aunties to help her hide the body. Shenanigans ensue. It's a total romp as they deal with the dead body amidst the biggest society wedding of the year, on an isolated island, with Medi's ex-boyfriend suddenly showing up, not to mention a jewel heist. I was worried this would be full of Asian stereotypes, and it was, but they were used with love and it had more depth to its humour than just relying on tired stereotypes for its jokes. 4.5 stars, highly recommend.
4 STARS! This gave heavy thriller vibes based off of the blurb but my expectations were diverted and I’m so glad they were because this was a great read!
