Unlike anything else I’ve read. Engrossing, remarkable, satisfying.

Was too slow paced for me I could not get into it

At first I thought this book was interminably slow and tedious, but then I realized I was just being an impatient reader. This book has a measured pace and takes its time, but it never meanders unnecessarily--which you only discover at the end. And the reveal is fantastic, feels very original, and, importantly, feels earned. It's only a thriller by the loosest definition. I'm not sure how to categorize it.

DID NOT FINISH

Incredibly slow

not a lot to say - i liked it, but had to push myself to get through this present from the father of my partner. the story twists and turns and has some political intrigue via a corrupt police department and their relationship with the press. but the thing that made reading this a good bit of work was the language - that flat, tone-less prose that so many writers seem to cling to these days to sell books - the language doesn't inspire or delight, it just does the job in the most clear, unimaginative way.

DNF

I bought this as a "recommended read" from a large book seller in the UK. This is the second time I have taken their recommendation, and the last.

I gave it a few hundred pages before I realised I wasn't even taking any of it in it was that boring. So I gave up. I can't really comment on the contents or the plot of the novel as I gave up - there are so many good books out there I just don't have the time to spend finishing boring ones...
