This book was beautiful particularly the writing. The author describes things in a way that is strange and exacting the type of description you wouldn't readily think of but it makes so much sense. The use of shifting povs really suited the story even though I often prayed it would go back to Priya or Malini quickly. The sapphic subplot was handled amazingly there's something about the way Priya see's Malini in a way I doubt think any ever has before. Easily a 10/10.

Good quality writing, but the story just didn't grip me.

I really, really tried. I just *do not care*. Was hopeful for this book because it's for book club but I can't wait to yeet it through a window.

Wow. I'm blown away. This one is a slow build and it is oh so satisfying. The interrogation of power, what it means to be strong, and distance between feeling and trust. Lay the magic and world on top of that--it is so magnificent. Favorite line for now "the apology dropped like a stone between them"

Multiple perspective worked well, despite slightly strange structure
think it could’ve worked in the first person too.
Characters were loveable and enjoyed the narrative of three powerful women. Bhumika was my favourite - want to hear more about her in the next ones.
Romance/relationships done well, seeded in and throughout, kept on toes and then brought together at end but doesn’t take away from plot.
Plot was very enjoyable, battle scenes very cool. Imagery was perfect throughout.
Cliffhanger could’ve been a bit more enticing. Not desperate to know what happens next but will definitely read the sequel.
Would like to know more about the history of the different regions and their religions/customs etc.
Favourite quote - “The world only has meaning when we give it meaning”
In comparison to POOT, slightly less well structured and a bit more basic in its writing but not to say I didn’t really enjoy this, I did! Imagery was better than in POOT, world built better despite being 300 pages shorter.
