3.5 stars.

My biggest pet peeve with this book is the protagonist. The writing is good, but without trying to offend the author, I feel like she's writing a character that twenty-somethings might find "cool" but falls tragically short of the mark. I don't know many twenty somethings, but the ones that I do know do not find Timberland boots, spiky short hair and eating disorders to be "de rigeur". Maybe I'm wrong. Other than the perennial notations about how much she ate (Aloa Snow - another annoying thing about this protagonist is the name), the story itself was quite compelling and I enjoyed the writing style. Seeing as this is marked as #1 in a series, I'm expecting more. I just hope she decides to make the protagonist more likeable while keeping the other parts of her writing the same.

Aloa Snow, a disgraced reporter, is offered a chance to make a comeback. Because she really needs the money, she accepts the position. With the help of a few ragtag friends, Aloa does some deep investigating that leads to numerous twists and turns. In the process of searching and trying to tie everything together Aloa puts herself in great danger. See Her Run is an enjoyable read.

Plot was interesting and moved quickly, but was a little overdone with irrelevant information and subplots....global warming, mental illness, gay marriage, immigration, anorexia, sexual harassment, personal injury, etc. It was an okay ready that was sometimes confusing. I was surprised by the why at then end, but not the who.

This is a densely plotted novel with some deft twists and turns. Don’t expect to devour it in a single sitting.

This is the first in a relatively recent series. The author brings her experience as a journalist into this novel. At times it does read a bit more like a news article than fiction. However, It’s a solid start on what I feel is her quest to become a superior novelist.

Although this book had a lot of twists and turns that I was having trouble keeping up with, the author did a great job of continuously reminding the reader where they were at and what was going on. I found myself hoping some of the character relationships would grow more, but they never did. The mystery was great and it kept me reading chapter after the chapter. I was not disappointed at all wirh the ending! I’d definitely recommend this book.

This book is full of mystery that at times I was anxious to know what was really going on.

I loved Aloa's support in the most difficult moments of her research and her insistence on finding the truth of this story. Highly recommended.

See Her Run was a novel that I read about on a blog and ordered on my Kindle. Aloa Snow is a disgraced journalist, she wrote a story using, let’s say “alternative facts” and now has no real career. Someone she has a history with, who is now wealthy contacts her to investigate a case of an ultramarathoner who committed suicide. The athlete is found barefoot dead in the desert, literally ran to death. The local authorities did a cursory investigation and closed the case. The more Aloa digs, the more evidence she finds of connections far beyond this one death. Very good mystery with a suspenseful plot and engaging characters

Peggy Townsend’s debut mystery/thriller, SEE HER RUN, is a gripping page-turner that had me staying up well past my bedtime to see what happened next. Townsend’s many years as an investigative journalist serve her well in telling the story of Aloa Snow, a former reporter on the trail of the killer of a talented, young endurance runner. Can’t wait for number two in the series!

Very exciting book, I can't wait to read the next one! You can tell the author knows her stuff as a journalist, but she doesn't bog the story down with jargon, either-it's a good balance.
