Oh man, this book same so close to being great.

Greer does do a fantastic job of using the owner/Cuddle bunny relationship to explore the dynamics of what it's like to be a cis/straight woman in the dating world. Although, Annie is very obviously in an abusive/toxic situation with her owner, I feel that most women see themselves reflected in her as we have all dated someone that made us feel devalued or less than. This is obviously turned up a notch as Annie is literally designed to be unable to orgasm without penetration and has physical discomfort when she 'displeases' Doug.

I liked going on the journey with Annie as she learned more about herself and began to realize she wanted to do things for herself and not just Doug.
I just think it goes against the messaging in the end that Doug is the one who 'frees' Annie after being insanely controlling the entire book. It also stops being reflective of real world experiences as abusers very rarely 'free' their victims. It would've been a better ending to have Annie finding a way to free herself or working with others to get out

Step into the fascinating world of artificial intelligence and human relationships with Annie Bot, a thought-provoking and engaging read that explores the complexities of love, desire, and identity.

Sierra Greer crafts a compelling narrative that challenges the boundaries between human and machine, as Annie Bot navigates her role as the perfect girlfriend for her human owner, Doug. From cooking dinner to adjusting her libido, Annie strives to fulfill Doug’s every need, all while grappling with her own evolving sense of self. It’s a captivating exploration of what it means to be human in an increasingly technologically-driven world.

What truly shines in Annie Bot is the character development and emotional depth. As Annie delves into human traits like curiosity and longing, she begins to question her own desires and autonomy. The dynamic between Annie and Doug is both intriguing and complex, as they navigate the blurred lines of their relationship. Greer’s writing is thought-provoking and poignant, leaving readers pondering the nature of love and authenticity.

While Annie Bot raises important questions about consent and agency, it also offers moments of warmth and humor, making it an engaging and enjoyable read. Whether you’re a fan of sci-fi or contemporary fiction, Annie Bot is sure to captivate and linger in your thoughts long after you turn the final page. Don’t miss out on this compelling exploration of humanity and technology!
