This was so mature. I've never read such mature romances before, and I can't say I hated it. I love the heroine. She had a strong head on her shoulder, and the hero was also great.

Logan Vega is the bomb

I loved this book. It was very well done and plotted. The subject matter was real life in how different people deal with grief, especially children. It seems as though Gail Vega, Vega two of the Vega tribe had a sixth sense about how she wanted her family cared for after her passing. She saw something in Faith Jacobs that told her that she would be perfect to be the Nanny of her son Casey and her husband Logan after her death. All three bonded over their grief on Vega Two's passing, and each dealt with it in a different manner. What was not expected was the feelings generated between Logan and Faith. Faith felt guilty for having those feelings and had a hard time dealing with her growing feels. Logan came to understand, through the help of his therapist that he was still alive and not dead. Casey, Vega Three of the Vega Tribe was adamant about Faith and his father getting married so they could be a family. Faith had her own agenda because she felt that she had more personal development she needed to do on her own before she could move forward. Logan, recognizing that she needed to do this and reluctantly gave her the space she needed but after her time was up, he went in for the kill. He knew what he wanted and Faith was it. He wanted to make new memories with her and add to the Vega Tribe for their HEA.

I was on FB and saw this rec. I was in the mood for something like this. Gut wrenching sad and then happy.

I feel like the more I read Xyla Turner, the more I begin to like the writing. Mr. Vega turned out better than I expected, and I found it to be a really good read.

DNF'd at 67%.

I couldn't take it anymore.

The concept was interesting. And I loved the kid. But Faith (the h) really bothered me. I found her unlikable. And a little over half way through I just stopped caring.

A good tearjerker

I thought I knew what I was getting into, but I was wrong. This was an unexpectedly sweet read. I ended up crying my way through the beginning but by the end it lightens up.

I think that this book attempted to do a lot within one, single story, and by the end I was a bit underwhelmed.

I enjoyed the romance for the most part, but the passage of time made it hard to stay invested. I usually don’t like time jumps, but I think that one time jump at the beginning could have saved all of the small skips in time that we got instead. By the end of the book, years had passed, but those years didn’t feel nearly fleshed out enough. They felt rushed, and like I was missing something as a reader.

However, I did enjoy the dynamic between the hero, heroine, and the hero’s son! The heroine, Faith, is Caribbean American (her family is from Trinidad) and it was cute to read about Logan (hero) wanting to learn more about her culture. The family aspect was really strong in this one, and was really sweet and heartwarming. The story also deals with grief due to death of a spouse.

Overall, it was fine. I’ll definitely read more from this author!
