Mr. Vega by Xyla Turner

I think that this book attempted to do a lot within one, single story, and by the end I was a bit underwhelmed.

I enjoyed the romance for the most part, but the passage of time made it hard to stay invested. I usually don’t like time jumps, but I think that one time jump at the beginning could have saved all of the small skips in time that we got instead. By the end of the book, years had passed, but those years didn’t feel nearly fleshed out enough. They felt rushed, and like I was missing something as a reader.

However, I did enjoy the dynamic between the hero, heroine, and the hero’s son! The heroine, Faith, is Caribbean American (her family is from Trinidad) and it was cute to read about Logan (hero) wanting to learn more about her culture. The family aspect was really strong in this one, and was really sweet and heartwarming. The story also deals with grief due to death of a spouse.

Overall, it was fine. I’ll definitely read more from this author!
