A lot of plot holes, plagued with unintelligible sentences, and continuity errors. It was really difficult to follow the action sometimes. At least it was short, though everything gets solved too easily and fast, and the way things happen doesn't make much sense. Also, I finished the book without knowing what he looks like beyond handsome and huge.

I found the overall story interesting.

I liked the heroine, Lexi, and found her smart and spunky, but not to the point of being annoying. I loved how much she was willing to sacrifice for her sweet sister, Melody. I couldn't find much sympathy for the father even though he was dealing with an addiction. The fact that Lexi trusted him with the dowry was unbelievable to me.

Commander Nash was almost cartoonish to me especially one particular scene that I can't mention without revealing spoilers. It has to do with their first sexual encounter. That said, I did like him. I appreciated that he was willing to think outside the box of tradition. Still, I feel he wasn't quite as developed as Lexi was.

I enjoyed the story enough to read the boxset which is has books 1-5.

How is the authors' writing? Good
Is there violence? Yes
Is there sexual content? Yes
How is the story narrated? Third person
How would you describe the plot of this book? Predictable

Sigh.

The premise was interesting! It had real potential. I was hoping that the characters would address the class and poverty issues that the Draconians had caused. However it's never carried through. Lexi is meant to resent the dragons and their influence but immediately changes her tune. The fact that her dad forged her signature is not cool and it makes me furious that her dad doesn't get any sort of punishment for doing so.

The biggest issue I had though? Nash puts his semen on Lexi's skin, knowing that it will affect her opinion of him. The explanation is that it produces pheremones that will make her more likely to accept the bond.

He doesn't tell her that this is what it does. He pretends to leave her alone to come around by herself knowing full well that the chemicals speed up the process from months/years to mere days.

It seriously calls into question the validity of Lexi's emotions. It robs us of the satisfaction of seeing Lexi come around to liking and eventually loving Nash. It paints Nash in such a negative light that I completely lost all interest in their romance.

3.5* a little short

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It is not my usual style of paranormal fiction. However the characters were interesting despite the length of the story not being able to put as much into the backstory or even grow them as much as I was hoping.

Short, sweet, and a quick read.
