This was an intriguing story and being set in a place I am completely unfamiliar with was a nice change to the usual settings.

So many things happened in this book it was sometimes hard to keep up with all the action. I enjoyed the dynamic of each of the characters and getting a glimpse into their personal lives was interesting to see how each of these horrific cases affected them.

The big twist at the end when you find out who the killer is really got me. I wasn’t expecting it. I thought I had it all figured out but fell for a red herring. I really enjoyed the book but my only gripe and the reason it lost a star was that there were some chapters that were a little drawn out for me. Describing things that may not necessarily have been needed. That’s just my opinion though others may find that 500+ pages is the right length but for me I think it was slightly too long.

Really looking forward to watching the adaptation into a tv series to see if they can do it justice.

As I was reading through this book, I kept thinking to myself... “This would be an amazing TV series”. Come to find out, it will be.

It was a slow burn starter, which I’m not usually a fan of. There were so many characters introduced in the beginning that I found it difficult to keep track of them. A couple of times, I had to turn back in the book to see who a character was. I also felt like this book did not need to be as long as it was. There are a lot of details and descriptions and sometimes I found the extra information unnecessary. All of that taken in to account, I’m still giving the book 5 stars because the ending will rock your world and, although it is longer than many thrillers, it holds your attention the entire way through.

I couldn't care less about the story & the characters... The only interesting detail I found from this book is the Danish tradition of making little dolls out of chestnuts. Cute.

Warning!: mentions of rape, child molestation, and gory scenes.

"Chestnut man, do come in. Chestnut man, do come in. Have you any Chestnuts that you've brought for me today, thank you kindly, won't you stay."

This is the perfect read for Fall. It's so atmospheric and creepy. It's like you're reading a Criminal Minds episode. I loved that they sprinkled in the children's rhyme throughout the book and twisted it so it sounded eerie. There are a lot of points of views in this book, so at times it did become a bit confusing, but it wasn't bad. I'm pleasantly surprised with how many twists and turns are in the book and I genuinely enjoyed the story. I would definitely recommend reading this book, especially now because the weather right now is perfect for it.
