I knew from the beginning what I was getting into with this series. The jokes were always schlocky, mostly entranced with the idea that hot girlz do violence.

But there were interesting moments that promised something more. I mean there's plot point that turns around a psychotropic suriname toad at one point.

But things fall apart, the center cannot hold, mere pointlessness is loosed upon the world.

It was almost a 4 but that last issue started dropping points.

Most of my issues with this volume were illustration related. Normally I don’t get to bent if there are some things I’m not a fan of with the art, but the Queens were drawn so inconsistently and...weirdly...throughout the volume that by the end I was mostly only reading the dialogue and no longer pausing to take in the full page.

Wait.. What?!
Is it finished? Is it not?
I'm really confused about the storyline, and overall I really didn't like any of the artwork in this volume, which kind of ruined it from the start for me.
I'm really confused, disappointed and really missed the original style and not least Violet! And Dave! How could you not have those two in the last issue?!?!

Hmm, that was a weird end to the series. I didn’t really get what was going on for most of this one and the artwork seemed a bit all over the place. Shame, I really enjoyed the previous book.

And this is where I sign off. It was a good run, Rat Queens.

Most of the previous volumes were enjoyable but kind of frustrating—the ideas, both on the issue & arc level, are often awesome, bizarre, or fun. But especially with the bigger ideas like Evil Hannah it feels like the writers only want to have fun in the set-up and build-up…and put the important finales off-screen. I feel like I’m being told, “Oh, we didn’t actually want to write that. And you didn’t want to read it, right?” I was here the whole time. Yes, I did.

Regardless, there’s a reason that after the confusing chaos that was Vol.3, I came back for more. These are great characters and even if the artists keep changing, they always add something special and different. I’ve got a spot in my heart for irreverent, crass, gory, often nasty high fantasy—that still is emotionally true and appropriately epic. Rat Queens almost got there.

Oh goodness... I did not think that this one could be any worse than the last one but I was so totally wrong. I have no idea what was going on, what the point of this last volume was, and what the heck was going on with the artwork?! The style kept changing as the story, or lack thereof, progressed and it kept throwing me for a loop. I had to take time out of the story to actually figure out which character was which on the page. That is just sad and annoying. I could not tell you what was supposed to be the main plot point because I lost it in all the aggravation. Also, what happened to just drinking, fighting trolls, and having a grand time? I want those Rat Queens back.
