At times this book was really good, and at others it seemed to be dragging on endlessly. I have a mass of jumbled thoughts on this one, and I'm not going to bother trying to put them in any semblance of an order because that pretty much sums up this book for me. It was all over the place. This is going to be spoilery, so you've been warned.

The beginning didn't really work for me. I don't even know how to explain it, but the MCs kind of bumped into each other and kind of acted like friends even though they never really were. Levi treated Toby like a kid brother and kept being a douche when they would kiss, but Toby just allowed Levi to be a douche. And while I get that these guys were young and confused, and Toby had something traumatic happen in his childhood, when the time came and everyone knew the situation, he couldn't man up and admit he loved Levi?! He was more worried about Chris's feeling, and that just really pissed me off. Everyone knows, so just freaking say it, but no, I'd rather let Levi walk out to fulfill my own prophecy that everyone leaves. And honestly why not talk to Chris instead of lying and backing out on plans? Considering he was your BFF, I think he would have gotten over it, and you may have been able to get him to talk to Levi way earlier to realize Levi didn't have it easy, and things weren't perfect for him either. Toby was a shitty friend and a shitty boyfriend, and I hated him by the end. So disappointing since BFF's sibling is a fave trope of mine.

I honestly didn't think I would've liked this book as much I do. It's not such a big book, but I love how in such a short amount of pages, the main characters, come to terms with the things they were struggling with it and learn that they need to work through them and fix them for themselves in order to be happy. And, it's not just the main characters struggles, it's the minor characters that are connected to the main characters as well. You see from one point of view how each character that is close to him is struggling and in the end, they figure out what they need to do to over come their struggles. That's what I really like about this book.....And also it was the gayness and it ended with happiness :)

I liked this a lot! I really like characters like Levi, who aren't afraid to love and talk about their feelings and fight for what they want. So many romance novels seem to be allergic to characters who admit their feelings and are open and honest. The conflict in the story came from elsewhere; Tobias' completely contrary attitude towards talking about his feelings and how he had to come to learn to use his words, Levi's uncertainty about the path his life is taking, the relationship between Tobias and Chris. I loved that too; best friends who so totally loved one another, and having that conflict when it came to Levi. I also really liked the fact that the book concentrated on showing how Tobias made changes in his life, in his relationship with his father, his room-mate and his college friends. And the romance was really sweet; I really really felt like I saw them falling in love as it happened!

Some of the resolutions were waaaaaaaay too phoned in (like Chris and Levi handling their stuff off screen) and for someone who supposedly really loved literature I feel like we hardly ever saw that part of Tobias' life. But all in all this was a really good read, and I'm glad I got it. I listened to the audiobook as read by Sean Crisden, who has a really appealing voice (though his actual reading left something to be desired sometimes).

3.5 stars.

I loved this! I enjoyed going through both of their journey to find the love they had for each other. I got emotional in different parts of the book and I just thought Tobias and Levi were perfect for each other.

This is the first M-M romance I've read, so I can't compare it to anything, but the writing is good, the characters are intriguing and it all felt very real. Enjoyable read.

I wasn't all that impressed by this at first but, dang, it ended up making me cry so damn hard! Wonderful character-driven romance about anxiety, family dynamics and not being able to find the right words (or any words at all) with realistically flawed characters you end up loving so much.

Content warnings include: anxiety disorder; mentions of car accident, artifical coma, depression, parent abandoning a child
