I grew up with Miss Marple, and I love her. I know I read this at some point when I was younger, but it had been long enough for me to forget both who did it and how much I enjoyed it. I love [a:Agatha Christie|123715|Agatha Christie|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1190633574p2/123715.jpg]'s versatility. She created Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, two of the most iconic figures in the old English Mystery genre, and managed to make them both distinct from each other and from the field. This Miss Marple "origin story" is an excellent read.

After many years of watching TV adaptations of Marple and Poirot, finally reading an Agatha Christie book did not disappoint. One thing that surprised me was how funny it was in places too

I did not expect to like this as much as I did. It's all of the coziness a murder mystery should have. Great characters, oh and phenomenal narration as I listened to this on YouTube as an audiobook!

This book is a fun intro into the character of Miss Marple!

I didn’t much care for the mystery and the way it was resolved, but it was fun to see the main characters interact - love the Vicar and Griselda’s relationship!

Pretty disappointing, really. Miss Marple solves the murder, but she’s not the main character here, which was a bit disappointing to me. That has more to do with the book’s marketing than the book itself, I suppose, but since the main character is a bit dull, I didn’t really care much for his detective work. The case itself has not one, but two significant red herrings that are pretty random. This isn’t a bad book, but I’d Miss Marple is always like this, I’ll stick to Poirot.
